ARW Blogging Assingment5

The main characters in Old Man and the Sea are Santiago, a fisherman and Manolin, a boy who helps him.

Three adjectives that describe Santiago are old, calm and hopefull.

At first, Sntiago is old. This is very important in the text and he is very strong altought he is old. Secondly, Santiago is calm. This is expalined " They sat on the terrace and many of fishermen made fun of the old man and he was not angry " (page 11, line 6 ) He can ignore the blame of the outside and do what he really want to do. He really loves the boy and fish, and be interested in only them. So he does not lose his calmness. Finally, Santiago is hopefull. This is expalined " But they went through this fiction every day. " ( page 16, line 14 )He and the boy try to make their life fan and find hope. And they believe that someday the old man can catch a big fish.

Three adjectives that describe Manolin are young, faiyhfull and diligent.

At first, Manolin is young. This is very important because this oppose to the old man. Secondly, Manolin is faithful. This is explained "Why am I so thoughtless? I must get him another shirt and jacket for the winter and some sort of shoes and another blanket. " ( page 21, line 8) Finally, He is dilligent. Thos is explained "It is what a man must do. " (page 26, line 18 ) He is young but he know the responsibility of fishermen.
